OUR MISSION
The mission of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is to enhance local preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in emergencies through training, community engagement, and collaboration with local emergency services. CERT trains and empowers community members to assist themselves and others during disasters, creating a pool of volunteers ready to help when local resources are strained.
OUR PROCESS
Education
CERT educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for local hazards by providing training in basic disaster response skills, including:
Fire safety, Light search and rescue, Disaster medical operations, & Team organization.
Assistance
CERT fosters collaboration with local emergency services by creating a network of volunteers ready to assist when local resources are strained. This includes emergency situations, special events, staffing shelters, traffic and crowd control and many other possibilities as well.
Volunteerism
By becoming a volunteer with CERT, you can become more than just a member of a team, but a member of a second family. In CERT, you find new friends not only in your team members but also within your community. No matter what your skill level, your age or your physical condition, there is a place in CERT for you.
Dedication
CERT members are volunteers who dedicate their time and often, money and resources, into training in and outside of the classroom, equipment & supplies. While almost anyone can participate in CERT, it does take dedication to be the most helpful for your team and your community... remember, you only get out of it what you are willing to put into it.
Core CERT training
Our foundational training equips you with essential disaster preparedness skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Advanced modules
Deepen your expertise with specialized modules focusing on advanced first aid, psychological first aid, shelter operations, and incident command. Enhance your readiness for diverse emergency scenarios and take on leadership roles.
Community engagement
Beyond training, we foster a strong, connected community. Participate in outreach events, preparedness fairs, and drills that strengthen local resilience and educate our neighbors on vital safety practices.
