OUR MISSION

Since our start in May of 2024, the mission of the Randolph County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has been to enhance local preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in emergencies through training, community engagement, and collaboration with local emergency services. CERT trains and empowers community members to assist themselves, their families and others during disasters, creating a pool of volunteers ready to help when local resources are strained. Not only do we assist in times of emergencies, we can also assist in community outreach programs, special events and search & rescue operations.

OUR PROCESS

Education
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) provides comprehensive education to volunteers regarding disaster preparedness for local hazards. This training encompasses fundamental disaster response skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, and team organization.

Assistance
CERT actively promotes collaboration with local emergency services by establishing a network of volunteers who are prepared to provide assistance when local resources are overwhelmed. This encompasses a wide range of scenarios, including emergency situations, special events, staffing shelters, traffic and crowd control, among others.

Volunteerism
By joining CERT as a volunteer, individuals have the opportunity to become integral members of a cohesive team, fostering a sense of belonging akin to that of a family. Within CERT, volunteers cultivate friendships not only with fellow team members but also within the broader community. Regardless of skill level, age, or physical condition, there exists a meaningful role for everyone within CERT.

Dedication
All members of CERT are volunteers who commit their time, and often their financial resources, to training both in and outside of the classroom. This training includes the proper utilization of equipment and supplies. While participation in CERT is open to nearly all individuals, it requires a genuine dedication to maximize the impact one can have on their team and community. It is essential to recognize that the benefits derived from this experience are directly proportional to the effort one is willing to invest.

Core CERT Training

The Core Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training program is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for effective emergency response. Participants will engage in comprehensive training sessions that cover a range of topics, including disaster preparedness, fire safety, medical operations, and team organization.

Advanced Modules

Enhance your professional expertise through specialized modules that focus on advanced first aid, psychological first aid, shelter operations, and incident command. This program is meticulously designed to elevate your preparedness for a diverse array of emergency scenarios and to equip you for leadership roles within these critical contexts.

Community Engagement

In addition to our training programs, we cultivate a robust and interconnected community. We invite participation in outreach events, preparedness fairs, and drills designed to enhance local resilience and educate our neighbors on essential safety practices.

Volunteer Support

Become a valued member of a dedicated team prepared to assist emergency services in times of crisis when local resources are stretched beyond capacity. Our volunteers deliver essential support, facilitating a more efficient and effective recovery process for Randolph County in the aftermath of disasters.
